Time-lapse video of my latest design: Grassdragon

Posted by RAWRoutLOWD - December 26th, 2010

Just finished this design, I'm super happy with it. It took a really long time, the shading was the real killer.

If you don't want to watch all of them, just watch part 2, because that's the one I spent the most time on.

If you only you chose some good music to go with it. :C

different strokes for different folks

dayum, love watching these. great insight. Where will the shirts be available (if they are)?

it isn't available anywhere, I just make them for fun. I might pitch it to a band or clothing brand though.

You SHOULD sell these by the way. Seriously.

Turned out great. I love all the detail you put in there. The process looks excruciating...it must've taken you a while to get it done. Nice work!

thanks, yea, it took a while. Probably around 10 hours.

Sick! Next time it'd be cool if you showed you drawing it on paper as well.

(Unless you own a tripod) Once I took 2 paper towel rolls and duct taped chopsticks together into 2 rods then put them across the rolls and then put a camera ontop the rods and drew underneath. Then tilt it so you don't get the shadow on the paper

That's a cool idea, but I just carry my sketchbook around all the time, so that I can draw new ideas whenever. I think this started as a doodle during class. But if I'm ever planning to start a design from sketch to finish, I'll record the sketching session as well. Thanks!

love it man, your shirts get better every time

what ever happened to public radio :c

I'll email you.

btw your twitter link is broken

nice catch, thanks

As for part 1, what brush do you use?

I use the same brush for every video. It's just the default circle brush with pressure sensitivity on. I just zoom in a lot and vary my line weight using my wacom.

Oh you know about Soul Khan? Word. This design is insane though.

Fuckin' awesome.

hey, this isn't that related but what program did you use to record the speed drawing? I can't seem to find a good screen capture program for Mac.
